Frances Cohen Schlact, 94, of Tampa, Fla., passed away March 12, 2018, at home, surrounded by the family she adored.

"Bubbie," was predeceased by husband Bernie and son Gary. She is survived by sons Steven, Alan (Josey) and Norman (Debbie); grandchildren Michael (Jill), Jonathan, Isabella; and great-grandsons Sawyer and Sutton.

A former First Lieutenant Army nurse, Bubbie devoted her life to caring for others. In 1976, in Charleston, W.Va., Frances became a public health nurse, traveling through the state’s "hollers" to provide prenatal and aftercare for low-income women. She later became the only nurse at the state Capitol, where she cared for everyone from legislators to Governor Jay Rockefeller and his family. She’ll be remembered for her warm smile, her joy for our joys, her generosity, creativity and her brisket.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at B’nai Jacob Eternal Home, South Charleston, W.Va., with Rabbi Victor Urekci officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Atlanta Group Home Foundation, Inc., 3095 Margaret Mitchell Drive, Atlanta, GA 30327 or Life Path Hospice, 12470 Telecom Drive, Suite 300, Temple Terrace, FL 33637.
